hi i'm alice.
I am a self-taught artist and I live in Hamburg, Germany.
In my art, female protagonists find space in a surreal context:
an here is why:
As a hetero cis-woman I have been confronted with sexism and discrimination for several times. I have tried many many times to bring the topic of feminism closer to my setting, to raise my voice and to draw the attention to patriarchal structures and injustices. This steady fighting is very important - above all intersectional, but also very exhausting. I found out that it isn't and shouldn't be the task of female (read) persons or non-binary people to do educational work - mostly for men, and to reveal personal trauma each time, just to make clear how hard it is to live in this patriachal society as a woman or non-binary person. And that's why its so important to give all our strength to solidarity with other women, non-binary, agender, homosexual, inter* and trans*people which are also discriminated. Our strength must also be used for women of color and their visibilty.
To the focus on all women - worldwide!
My pictures are loud. They show pain, joy, waking, setbacks, revolution and the untiring fight of women, with all their power, their strength and beauty on all levels - for a better world! So, I'd say everyone should be a feminist!
